It saddens me to know that some people forget the meaning of Christmas as soon as the day is past.

                                                     The Season

Put away the ornaments,
The day is past and done,
We've eaten all the feast,
That honors Christ the Son.

The New Year is upon us,
It's time for drink and mirth,
Our party life is hindered,
By thoughts of Saviour's Birth.

Back to daily grind,
Our Holidays are through,
It's time to earn a living,
There's so much work to do.

Is Christ within your thoughts?
Or only in the season?
The Son of God came down,
Our sin, it was the reason.

So think about the Saviour,
As day by day you're living,
Give your heart to Christ,
And practice love and giving.

Being Catholic, Christmas has more than a one day meaning for me, so I appreciated this.

Great wisdom put forth here and may we all abide by this. wE can be friends with all all through the year. It is true, the savior never leaves us and is with us each day. Oh I remember that the first thing when I wake up in the morning. Reading the bible messages is so important too and I do each day and have my devotionals too. Happy New Year and may Christ be with you always.

Hello Andrew,

There is great truth and wisdom in this poem, and it is written so skillfully presenting the message plainly but not "preachy". "Is Christ within your thoughts?"- a very eternal question that brings to mind the final absence of time....and holidays. Very good point.
