Realities of widowhood...

The phone doesn't ring

The house is quiet

Friends tiptoe around me

Afraid to mention his name.

At a party, eyes pass over me like

I was an insect on the wall.

Harassing phone calls in the wee

Hours disturb my slumber.

People I danced with, ate with,

Pretend I don't exist.

I am a silent reminder that

We are all vulnerable to that final call.

"People I danced with, ate with,
Pretend I don't exist." -

Perhaps they are just being afraid that they might say something wrong, because they see that you are still grieving. Many people respect others' privacy, especially when they needed time to be by themselves to grieve.

A very good write, checking into the realities of many people with similar circumstance. A good message is sent here, stating that not everyone who grives wanted to be alone, many might need human contacts for soul-enlightenment.
