For you Mom!

This piece was written in Memory of my Mother, who I lost at an early age. Hopefully, those of you who still have parents can learn to appreciate them while they are still here.
Enjoy......

Mom, if I had only known
It was the last time I’d see your face
I would have taken a picture
Something that time couldn’t erase

Mom, if I had only known
It was the last time I’d touch your hand
I would have held on a little longer
Until I was no longer able to stand

Mom, if I had only known
There was so much more I would have said
So many more questions to ask
So many more tears, I would have shed

Mom, if I had only known
I was hearing your voice for the last time
I would have recorded you
Instead your voice resonates in my mind

Mom, if I had only known
I would have hugged you oh so tight
I would have sat by your side
All day and all night

Mom, I see glimpses of you
When I’m in the mirror staring at my face
Even though I’ve persevered without you
It’s only because of God’s grace

He always made sure
That I was taken care and provided for
Even though I miss you daily
I’m stronger than ever before

Mom, I will never forget you
Or the sternness of your grasp
I only wished I had appreciated you more
Before the breath that you took….became your last!!

In Loving Memory of
Miss Rosie Marie Vaughn

This is a very moving poem and it sends a very important message.Children should always appreciate their parents and spend as much time with them as they can because life is too short and the unfortunate reality is that people will never know when their time is up.Thank you for sharing this.I'm sure your mom is proud of the type of woman that you become just like I'm proud of you for who you are.take care

Zahra, this is such a moving and beautiful poem. My mom is alive but has a condition that could either take her tomorrow or two years from now. No one knows. I take your poem to heart. I do try and appreciate each moment with her.

With Love,
Cindy
