What I am looking for is a way to say what I need to say...
and not get back these tepid sayings that real friend don't say
|
|
|
How terrible can things get from yesterday to day...
Stress, irritation, hiding fear from myself in every way.
Being alone in a world of strangers is how I feel.
There are some things that you really need to reveal...
what lies in your heart, the dark and the light.
The good, the ugly, the bad things that come out at night.
What is it I am looking for, you ask me to tell you quick.
A friend who doesn't give me snap pithy statements that makes me sick.
If I am afraid, my fears are worthy ones regardless of reason.
If I am upset, don't hand me lines that smack of treason.
Friends are there for you, regardless of why.
Friends are supposed to be there for you 'til you die.
It's not so much to ask, if I am worried, upset or mad...
to have a friend sympathize, help to worry or simply know when I am sad.
If you don't know what to say, then say that, damn it!
Don't offer me platitudes and pat phrases and b*shit.
If I am mad, let me rage and let me roar.
If I am sad and don't get over it, tell me I am a bore.
Whatever you do, don't tell me "It will be ok."
That I can get from a fortune cookie, any ole day.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem of truth. A true friend will tell you exactly what it is about and won't sugar coat it with sympathy when it isn't called for. A true friend will actually pull you from the ring of fire and tell you that you won't be so lucky the next time. A true friend is there when advice is needed, and not the smushy kind either, but truthful words that can bring us back to reality. Very well written and said.
May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie. |

| I think what we all really want at the end of a day is a friend to listen to and a friend to hold us-well done |

Usually what we want is a good "ear" from a friend; let us rant and rave, or have a good cry, if need be, and then give us a silent Hug. Works for me...

| Liked the words and inspiration of this one. Especially good to read on Valentine's Day for a widowed person. Great, keep up the good work. |

It is so difficult for most to say anything but to repeat what others have said to them in those particular circumstances. It is never easy to comfort someone when every situation is distincly different from another. Words convey what is in the heart and empathy is best felt in that light. Missed your work.

Boy ain't that the truth...
It's important to have a true
friend and unfortunately you
always find that you only have
one or two. Oh well...it counts |

You are so right but often people just don't know what to say so you must take it that they care and at least they are trying to help...we all need that.
