Daddy’s Little Girl

From the first moment you held me close in your arms
You began to work your magical charm
As if from the heavens you were sent just for me
I looked in your eyes and all I could see was someone so special God sent just for me

To protect, love and nurture
Unconditional and true
From that first moment I just knew
Daddy’s Little Girl is what I would be
A Princess through to eternity

As I grew it was plain to see you loved helping and caring for me
You held my hand when I was so small making me feel as if I were six feet tall
Proud as a peacock I would be as long as I had my Daddy with me

Bumps and bruises from childhood play
You knew how to make them quickly go away
Kisses and hugs warm, soft and true Daddy my hero and a dream come true

Then I grew and began to pull away
You let me leave and go on my way
Making mistake as I traveled through life
Heartbreak and sadness were a fact of life
From a distance I always knew without hesitation I could count on you

You didn’t dare question but knew what to do
You held my hand and always pulled me through
Your hand so soft and gentle to touch I always knew my Dad to trust

Success and celebrations you were there too
Working the charm that could only come from you
Proud as a peacock you would be watching me grow into who I should be

This is my story of a magical past
Unconditional and true that came from you
Daddy I’ll love you forever and more and thank you for the moments that now mean so much more
