Whining droplets
straddle antennae,
sliding down
to cool friction
the drudging laborers weave;
in and out of formation.
Ivory eyes see red.

Knowingly
behind, their impatience
penetrates
asphalt below,
gripping to move
at a quicker pace.
Onward, sinking
teeth to feed
from the same
earthly trough.
