I wrote this because I have always been fascinated when I see the first fireflies of summer. This is the most magical evening of the year for me. I always tell my children, though they are grown now, that this is God's light show.

Twilight Invitation

The time has come; the moon is high.

No more to slumber come from your trance.

The twilight whispered to the fireflies.

Shake dew from your wings and brighten the skies.

Your stage awaits you, come out to dance.

The time has come; the moon is high.

Your illumination is wondrous despite your size.

I find my excitement beyond endurance.

The twilight whispered to the fireflies.

Rise, rise, the earth has no ties.

Enhance the dark with your twinkling lance.

The time has come; the moon is high.

Iíll not tell your secrets, for I am to wise,

To tell how you flicker, and frolic and prance.

The twilight whispered to the fireflies.

See your reflection shine here in my eyes.

The children are sleeping; itís time for romance.

The time has comeí the moon is high,

The twilight whispered to the fireflies.
