She burns brightly...
A beacon in the darkness
Promising shelter to all who follow,
Singing of safety and warmth
Against the night.

She burns brightly...
Lighting a path through the cloud
Of the pain and bitterness that engulfs
Those crying out for relief
From loneliness.

She burns brightly...
Drawing them close to her breast
Caressing their hungry souls, whispering
Platitudes to calm the mind
And ease the heart.

She burns brightly...
Drawing them ever closer
To the center of a consuming flame
from which there is no reprieve
And no escape.

She burns brightly...
All who pass close to her flame
Ignite in a passionate explosion
Before they wither and die
And still they come.

I remember this one fondly..nice to see that you dug it out of mothballs...and hence let the moths move closer to the flame;-)

Nice piece for someone special. Just the right mood for this girl on a Saturday morning with sleepy eyes.

Your words are so wonderful for reading. Thank you for sharing!!!!!
