What is it to be a woman?

Am I only the sum of my parts?

I am called sister, wife, mother and friend.

I am called to mend the souls of the world,

Without tending to my own.

What is it to be a woman?

Will I be remembered?

I am expected to keep peace, be the diplomat, be it all!

I am asked to hold the world upon my shoulders,

Without question or regret.

What is to be a woman?

Am I to be objectified and sexualized?

I am expected to be in fashion, yet be unique, yet conform.

I am expected to be an example to those who are yet come,

Without being able to thank those who came behind.

What is it to be a woman?

I am a sum of many things.

I am a sister, I am a mother, a wife and a friend.

I am lost in the grand scheme of glamour, money and notarity.

Always to be at the call of another.

What is it be a woman?

I am who you want me to be...
