One of a number of lyrics written during and after a wonderful relationship with a truly wonderful human being.
As relationships go, it went!
I would not have been without those weeks and months and years of exquisite, delightful togetherness - and our friendship survived the end of the love affair - despite the occasional vicious spark and petty meanness.
I am a better person because that particular person shared part of my journey.

Go well.

Love Me - Leave Me

You wear your beauty like a mask
thinking no one ever sees
You hide behind your own illusions
Fooling everyone but me
Our love - our laughter's only habit
We just don't have it any more
It's crystal clear we've really had it
How did we go from bold to bored?

Love me, leave me, let me lie here
Let me think it through once more
I guess I should be feeling sorry
But, truth to tell, I'm not too sure

One of us must make decisions
While the other breaks the rules
We'll wear our freedom like a prison
And spout our wisdom just like fools
Go your own way, do your own thing
I've got plans excluding you
Why does winning feel like losing
When did lies stand in for truth?

Love me, leave me, let me lie here
No, there's nothing left to say
I know I should be sad and sorry
Feeling passion fade away

Love is fine for fools and singers
Tho it can go from right to wrong
What joy or pleasure will it bring us
If we feel we don't belong?
It's true we found some peace of mind
But time has passed since way back when
Can't help see 'cos we're not blind
A good thing's over - why pretend?

Love me, leave me, let me lie here
Let me think it through once more
And, yes, I do feel sad and sorry
Whatever else, of that I'm sure!

Always the hardest part is the letting go this is excellent.

Letting go is the hardest part of acting on information we have already internalized.

Well expressed in a fine poem.
I'm glad I stopped by.
