Thougths that had obsessed me just after 9/11.

The pride of New York they were...
The twins towers.
Down they went on that Tuesday
talking along a chunk of heart
From all of us.
Now, rubble, debris, soot
stand there instead,
Soundless, heartless,
Stunned by the power of hatred.

Eyes blinded with ashes,
Lungs clogged with fumes,
Eyes filled with tears,
Thes rescuers search...

Debris, to me...,
Give back the innocents
You hide in your arms.
Many a night I want to put my
head on the frozen stone and
listen, listen...
but I hear no sound....

Take good care rubble,
For you retain in your masss,
Entwined in iron branches
The life of thousands stars.
So I would embrace you rubble
A desperate kiss
Entangled with desperate hope
For life to came out of you...
But I hear no sound...

Shining stars, shining stars
Do not fear!
Your bodies might be trapped,
But you live in each of us,
Ingrained in our bones,
Shaping us, Feeding us
With new strength.
You died, but
America yet lives
For Justice and Peace.
