Re-write of an old poem I forgot I had written. The words took me in an other direction this time.

I’m not your everyday warrior clone
The shoot me to shards type of guy
I don’t fight in armies, I combat alone
And no one orders me to kill and die
These are matters I prefer to decide
You may even be the next to disappear
Regardless of where you run and hide
I’m not the mechanic, but the engineer
Who accepts only hard cash in advance
No one owns me for I’m merely for hire
Yours is the event, mine the circumstance
Tell me what to burn and I may set it on fire

Silently, unseen and without a single trace
But  I will only do what I consider to be just
Say where you want to go and I set the pace
Neither you or I will leave tracks in the dust
The dust underneath which I may bury you
For requesting an inequitable assassination
Because I can not allow you to ask me to
Kill to obscure your lawless abomination
Even though I murder as easy as I breathe
So make sure your request to kill is justified
Or it may leave me no choice but to sheathe
You instead of the victim you had in sight
