I turn to lock the door,
My knees hit the floor.
I look inside this porcelain bowl
As I force my body to lose control.
On my knees I feel so empty,
Again the guilt takes over me.

Rarely am I in this desperate situation,
But there's to much sin to fix with starvation.
I look at these four walls,
As I hear a voice call
I stumble to hide my affairs.
My visions blurred with threatening tears.

This relationship I've committed to is abusive,
Yet I'm addicted to it and keep it exclusive.
There's always an easier way
To keep the shame at bay,
To give my family and friends satisfaction,
Keeping them blind to the chain reaction

This is excellent writing... I pray you are not purging because you will tear your intestinal tract to shreds eventually... anywho you didn't write to hear me preach. You drew me into the poem and kept me reading.

Let God purge your soul and rebirth your spirit, breaking the chains that so easily enslave us..........Deborah:)

a stark and poignant write...and a damn good write. One of the marks of a good piece of poetry is a layering of possible have done that splendidly in this piece. As easily as it can be read about an eating disorder, it can also be read as an abuse of a different kind. This is good work. Welcome to the den.

Please say this is fictional - society has much to do with people feeling bad about themselves. One can never be too thin/rich/famous enough; why can't we learn to accept us for whom we are? Maybe others will, too. That is my hope. Pain, excellently penned -

(((HUGS))) and love, karla.
