I’m right at the beginning, but I’m thinking of the end
You’re probably quite busy and don’t have much time to spend.
I want you to keep reading and to not go empty-handed
An ending with no merit leaves one feeling sort of stranded.
That’s why I need a thought germane to be a fitting close.
A finale with a payoff, or you’ll leave my poem for prose
I don’t simply want to end it so abruptly with a thud
That would make it dull and hollow, just a lifeless, flightless dud.
But I only have a small space left and it’s getting rather late.
So my humble little end-less verse, I think will have to wait
For chapter two, a second act, a final curtain call
To Be Continued, then, will have to be “the end” for now.
