A poem about heartbreak, and how people can carry on after.

Echoes of a broken clock, play chorus to my dirge.
I speak the words that stopped your heart, that from my life it purged.
Destiny offered us a smile, but we misread the intent.
We sat together in emptiness, and all our time we spent.

Night has fell across the sky, and with it I depart.
I speak the words now just once more, and I still your beating heart.
Look back upon the times we had, and simply try to smile.
Though I leave you standing here, this will only hurt a while.

Farewell my past, my broken hope, for you I speak the dirge.
Yet when you resurrect your heart, a new love will emerge.
Imagine this a lesson, a mistake you had to make.
I took from you your beating heart, but not yet will it break.
