Why I Had to Kill my Little Orange Friend

When a new birth arrives, the stars cry with joy

Is it a girl, or is it a boy?

They all want to know

As it be such a glow

How happy was I

It caused such a stir, I had but to cry

Many days passed, with joy I watched you grow

But little by little, I felt you should know

That soon you would see

The end of your spree

My heart now weighs heavy, knowing what must be done

Your life must end; the two of us must be one

A knife is what you will see, when I start

What could be called a killing spree

Slice and dice is what I shall do

And that will be the end of you

The tribe to which I belong

We feed to be strong

We must eat what’s alive

If we are to thrive

I know it sounds sick, but my friend I will eat

The good thing for me, is you have no feet

No feet, no arms, no neck I said

A tractor has driven right over your head

You see, it is not as you thought

My little friend can actually be bought

I’ve watched you grow, day by day

Soon in my belly, is where you will stay

But it’s not just me that wants you to die

There are savage animals, and mighty birds in the sky

Just today I had to scare a ferret

He wanted to eat you, but you are my little Carrot
