Willis's Song

A child, a day, and a father...
Written for my son a long time ago,
a child then, a soldier now...

Willis's Song

Daddy..Daddy, listen to me please....

Let me tell you about the bug I saw
When I was on my Knees
Let me show the green grass that grows
in the yard and the big tall trees
See the flower I picked for you
The prettiest one I saw

Daddy..Daddy, Lets go swing....

push me higher and higher
to where the stars they sing
let me feel the wind come rushing by
like the birdies flying high
High enough to touch a cloud
as it goes floating by

Daddy..Daddy, Let me help you play

when you sit at your big desk today
let me climb up in your lap
and explore the drawer with all those things
the pens, and pencils, the paper clips bright
let me stay with you and play

Daddy...Daddy, Please don't make me go away.....

Hello Richard,

The transition of emotions through the lines are deeply moving.
Beautiful and very nicely written.

You didn't did you, it wasn't you was it? Bless you for sharing, it's beautiful and sentimental. Jasmin Horst
