Young Love Tragedy

How well guarded the grief
Fallen from life’s steely gaze
To river depths they belong
Where gray-caps spray
Disingenuous song

What failed resolve do I share
With those lucky souls there?

Feet dangling
I absurdly cuss
The splintering truss
That delights in thighs bare

Sigh, oh dusky air
Heavy with impatience
And strangled reverie
The sun slips irrevocably

Fire-orange lances in
Half-circle dances
Call to me

I shall accompany
That splendid orb in free fall
For we are mutually betrayed
But no longer delayed
We have bequeathed our all

I slip into the rushing roar
Finding queerly
No impulse to reach
Anymore
