Thinking of home.

Looking back on yesterday
my mind begins to roam
Images of kids at play
in a little place I call home

Smear McGoo on a vacant lot
Swimming at Pete's Bend
Sledding down the college hill
with several of my friends

We'd knock on doors and run away
put lightning bugs in a jar
Swim the street on a rainy day
ride to church in the trunk of a car

No matter where I travel now
however far I roam
I know I carry within me
a little place I call home

This poem brought me back to my childhood. I use to put lightning bugs in a jar too! There were 8 kids in my family, I have tons of good memories of us playing baseball in front of our house, picking blackberries for Mama to make a cobbler, so many days I relive. Thanks for sharing this poetry, Randy.

Hi, Randy, and welcome to Authors' Den!
I enjoyed this peppy little poem about the place you call home. It brings scenes of carefree happiness and triggers my own memories.
