Poem about travels through Africa, excerpted from my up coming short story “Patterns of Un/Sustainable Tee Shirts”.

> Hope this finds you terrific
> Otherwise greetings to all
> Covering West Africa for sometime
> From visiting Gu, the God of War
> To the museums and stories of folklore
> Mountains and lighthouses travelers climb
> Motorcycle adventures, fishing and chumming
> Sounds of Ghanaian engines weaning and humming
> While crossing man’s largest made lake
> Thankful for 2nd border guards on the take
> Business thriving from pipeline to ports
> “2nd hand” “1st World” goods arrive
> History built on pirate and slave forts
> Patterns arise out of the branded tee shirts
> Worn by the recipients of progressive charity
> Globally connected industrial endeavors thrive
> It is eerie the power order exerts
> Foreignness is shaded by the familiarity
> Pungent odors and ancient methods survive
> Crafted by the volcanic glow of Namibian sunrise
> Gentleness exuding the traditional cultures
> Can not be offset by the city vultures
> Nature discarded in search of the prize
> Life is not equal under African sky
> The pheasant on the road had to die
> The continuous laugh of a Sierra Leone child
> Fuel the charter boat as weather is mild
> To sea we go to maintain hypocrisy
> The coast lines can be very dicey
> A fisherman stung by barbs of sea urchins
> Discovers a delicacy coveted by Asian merchants
> From Tangier where ships tie their ropes
> To the coolness of the Cape of Good Hope
> Many African leaders are prolific
> Stewards of what is a tough call
> A journey heads into the fall
