Poem to first love

They shot a man

They yelled "He's down"

Some people ducked

Some gathered round

They started mounring, instantly

And I walked by, instinctly

I knew the story

Why should I stop?

Another gutter thug's payback

Or so I thought

I watched the news

It was all the same

Many wounded, few dead

No leads or names

I turned it off

I drifted away

And my mind slipped back

Into a long gone day

I saw a face

Familiar and fresh

I kissed sweet lips

I was caressed

I saw a light

Above his head

Something said stay this time

I walked away instead

Just like I did

That night he helped

I pushed him away

Ignored what I felt

He made one mistake

I cut him  off

Suppressed my love

Called it his loss

In the dream I drove

Past his house, and cried

I never got out

Never went inside

I held my anger

Against this man

And said one day

He'd want me again

And I'd be gone

And glad he'd reap

Like I had in real life

When I wasn't alseep

I woke up and stretched

Shook the memories away

Wiped the tears that escaped

Prepared for another lonely day

Something was missing

Something ached within

Then I got a phone call

From an old friend

He instructed me

To turn on the news

I nonchalantly shook my head

At familiar views

A man was shot

Tell me something new

They released his name

And it was you....

You died without warning

Not much of a fight

I dropped the phone

And started to cry

Cried aloud and broken

For once with no shame

I started to apologize

But it was too late

Thought back to yesterday

And the way heads shook

When I unknowingly walk past you,

And never even looked

My heart was cold

Like most mankind's

I already knew the whole story

Or so I believed, in my mind

Naive is the choice

Pain is what it brings

When you grow ammuned

To such unfortunate things

We walk past it every day

We never even glance

So sure it was someone deservant

Of such a lost chance

But I'll tell you my friend

Hurts when you knew

The person on the ground

And the others that loved them too

Everyone is someone

In somebodies eyes

So it's not okay

When we just walk by

Now I'll walk with this guilt

A hard lesson taught

First love of my life

The man that was shot

A good emotionsal story or poem. A man was shot in my town too and they are still looking for the person. They will find him in the end as it was a person living with this man. At least that is whom they think did it. Shootings occur in my city every day and it is so undesirable to hear about it too. God Bless All us Survivors.
