When our great tomorrow become our terrible today.

This is the day we thought would never be
the time when we were supposed to be free.
Today is the tomorrow we said would be so gay
the promised, suposedly love-filled day.

But somehow our predictions did not stand the test
our efforts appear to have been not for the best.
And the seeds we planted have sprung up spoiled
or was it we planted them in unsuitable soil?

What did we do which has brought us such pain?
From which soured tree did we pluck our disdain?
Whom did we wrong to receive such a sentence
of being condemned to a world of no repentance?

Oh, tell me Great Judge where we did go wrong
show us historians when we ceased to be strong;
point out our faults that yet might save
a dying world from the cold, dark grave.

How foolish we were in our yesterdays
to think things could never be this way.
What a mistake it was to frolic and play
and forbid our senses to see this day.

A MOST IMPRESSIVE WORK! YOUR STRONG PHRASES, WITH EXCELENT ARTISTRY, VIVIDLY DESCRIBES ONE WHO DEPENDED ON 'SELF' RATHER THAN A 'HAVE YOUR WAY...GOD'. GREAT RHYME AND RHYTHM. ENJOYED...AND THANKS FOR SHARING. LOVE, JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
