Written several years ago before I met my wonderful husband and best friend. This poem describes the pain and disappointment I felt from a failed relationship. Some of my best writing came from my pain. Writing became theraputic, pouring out my pain on paper. I just came across it while going thru my files and I'm happy to say I now have better days!

Don't know why I cry when sorrow comes my way.
It comes and I think this time it's gonna stay.
Somehow I go on but damn if doesnt hurt all day.
Locked in my pain, no escape, nothing left to do.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

The flood of tears I shed aint gonna do me no good.
When trouble comes in my neighborhood.
I think it's gonna rain today yeah, the clouds have formed true .
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

Two steps forward, two steps back,
Damn, I gotta get off this track.
Drowning in my tears of sorrow and shame,
I no longer want to play this game.
Damn, I got mud on my shoe,
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

Got no one to blame, the song is still the same,
It's always been my claim to fame.
Tell me honey, what can I do?
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

I love, I lose and I've I got the "sorry I can't be what you need", blues.
Love my body, how good it made you feel,
why didnt you tell me it wasn't real?
I don't want you to care for me because I dont think you do.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

I just want a love thats gonna stay,
oh I prayed and I prayed, but they always stray.
Lighting tears thru the sky, the thunder roars in my ears,
I'm screaming now, no way to stop these tears.
What can I do when I've bitten off more than I can chew.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

The morning comes with it's fresh dew.
The rainbow in the sky with it's bright hue.
But the sun don't shine for me baby, thanks to you.
Don't it make my brown eyes blue.

This is a theme (situation) with which many can relate, Mahogany. I agree that writing can be a very therapeutic exercise. I am happy for you that better days have come along. Love, peace, and blessings,

Regis
