Hand in hand we stepped through
The yawning glass paned doors
Other children held the mommies’ hands
Skipping on shiny floors.
I firmly held that soft trusting hand
Of my cherished beloved child
The teacher said all would be fine
And smiled a confident smile.
We all prayed our silent prayers
That what she said was true
And smiled through tears as we left
Knowing this one day would seem like two.
