TIme is slipping
Like sands in an hourglass
And I am with those hands
Falling, fading, desperately trying to grasp
The slightest thing
To pull me through the muddy river of emotion.

I am confused, lost
Like a tiger
WIthout his stripes
Or a lion
Without a jungle.

What am I to do
With all this torment?

Visions of lost love
Lost life
Lost everything,
Yet to pretend
Like a mannequin in a window,
A false smile,
A plastic heart,
To freeze my life
So no one can touch it.

I will no longer feel
The hurt
The pain
Just an emptyness
And a coldness.
The sky will no longer be blue
Birds don't sing
Flowers don't bloom.

To end this pain
Would be a blessing
And to know there is a yellow brick road
Leading to my happiness
Is a thought
That only time will serve
To me
As a head on a silver platter.

C Kathie McDaniel 8-11-94
