I came to see dismay in your eyes. A grimace so tight it would have jagged edges. I came to see my words slip right off the paper into cold loneliness. The sand is still in the hourglass and the last few moments fell, like mist hangs over the city twinkling up from the lights below. I felt so cold, so far away from you as quiet as a five dollar cab ride to the airport. Still the grass is blowing along the highway not knowing who has fallen. Not seeing the wind swept anguish that falls unnoticed to every creaking whisper, that empties but through my eyes. It breaks me down as I close my eyes to the world I am dancing holding you close and the music plays on the fear around me evaporates, the steam of emotion embers caught alight at the end of your fingertips make me stand tall after I have fallen so deep
