Standing on the boulevard
watching all the cars go by,
wishing that I,
could go too.
Laying in fields serene,
watching the clouds drifting high,
wishing that I,
could drift too.
Stomping puddles 'neath my feet,
feeling my heart skip a beat,
wishing that I,
could flow too.
Basking in the shining sun,
watching the rays having fun,
wishing that I,
could shine too.
Chasing the leaves as they fall,
I can't catch them all, I cry,
wishing that I,
could change too.
Then comes the winter of life,
a closure season, things die,
wishing I do,
I'd die too.
When the new petals next peek,
I will close my eyes to sleep,
wishing that I,
could sleep too.
When you stand on life's boulevard,
watching life passing you by,
know that I'm ...
coming to you.
