Return Me To Light

Just a reflecion of life gone by -
and I see a train coursing
through the jungle.
Little villages where the poor,
but happy people live.
I can see mountains reaching
up to the heavens;
pictures of paradise around every bend.
Banana trees and coffee beans,
a day at the beach; smoked shark...
Beaches in a far off land.
The scent of hibiscus and orchid
I can see myself alone - as a child;
still remembering the feelings
running through me.
A centrepoint in my aloneness then...
an early acceptance of learning to live.
School days knew difficulties;
the runt of the litter, I suppose, with all
its calamities and disappointments.
Two spirals with crosses on a building...
The symbols of God.
The scent of the earth's perfume
as I travel through the trails
and the valleys.
High up in a tree, I can hear a bird
singing the news of another fine morning.
And, so it begins again...
