Emotions opened like antediluvian bottles
cutting hand on brittle glass
fingers crushing out shards
catching on splinters
metallic blood rivers
coursing down in fiery torrents
as the crystal salt cubes grind into flesh
palm painted deep crimson

Deteriorating cardboard boxes tossed from the dusty rafters
of a cold, neglected attic
rats chew on the toes of plastic babies with missing eyes
the clacking of their claws echoing
in the vast emptiness between cluttered stacks of forgotten pain
and the blood still drips and pools

Congealing memories caking atop mold and 18 years of grime
arm shaking as muscles give way to exhaustion and decay
eyes leaking insane tears
not able to let go... clutch more tightly instead
holding the misery dear
i deserve this flaring agony
so many fears harbored
so many hopes betrayed
lied and lied and fictionalized
too many broken years

Surreal landscapes opening as time escapes the bottle
an hourglass slowly leaking sand into the barren desert
bleak mountains looming in chilled raspberry mist
stale sea breezes whipping thru witch's hair
conjuring spells of long ago
when time's whirlwind stood still
i thought i could cheat fate, control destiny
played myself for a fool
ending up here with nothing but searing torment
raw nerves that will not be soothed by alienated friends
black oozing along the edges, filming blue eyes gray
a gasp not heard over the high-pitched whines
phantom hands close over mine
the bottle drops
