the biography of many who do not fit
the image of "perfection"

i look into the mirror
it throws back a monster
with distorted features
                                            who is that monster
i look into the mirror
it throws back a monster
the world says i'm ugly
                                           that monster is me
i look into the mirror
it throws back a monster
it boldly laughs at me
                                           the monster is ME
i look into the mirror
it throws back a monster
the monster has to die
                                           that monster called me
i look into the mirror
it throws back a monster
i throw a lamp at it
                                           the monster i am
i look into the mirror
i no longer see it
it no longer exists
                                           the monster i was

Karla, we all feel like that at times, but it doesn't mean that it is true. What's really important is the beauty which is inside. Outward beauty doesn't last. It is the inward beauty that lasts. Inward beauty is love, kindness, and a caring spirit.

Love, Patty

Very well written, but there is no monster in your mirror, just a pretty lady smiling back. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but the eye of the beholder does not always see the beauty beneath which is more important than the outisde. Remember that !!

I read the first paragraph and saw where this was going and think too highly of you and your sister to read the rest, you both are too pretty, too compassionate, too considerate, for me to read the above and enjoy it...Peace, Ed & Rufuz

You are very beautiful where it counts :: Inside your heart :: you are beautiful. Many can't say that for they are ugly on the inside
and sometimes beautiful on the outside. But their inner ugliness robs them of their outward beauty. Hugs and Love. Bill Murray

Heartbreaking, sobering look of reality and how society views people who do not fit a specific "image"; such a shame, really! Thanks for sharing this powerful, thought-provoking poem; you spoke for many today!
