~ Samuel’s Walk ~

Walking…talking…to himself, the order of the day.
Dirty clothes, a knapsack, talking…walking…on his way.
Every step a ritual, proof life resides in there.
Samuel walked a thousand miles, going to nowhere.

A stop outside the market, waiting for the bakery truck,
Hoping for some day old goods…today he’s out of luck.
Samuel pays no mind, walking…rambling…down the road,
Unaware his thoughts escape his lips, in mumbled code.

Scattered scenes of no recall, appear in mind’s eye view,
Memories play hide and seek, confusing what he knew.
Walking…talking…to himself, shuffling steady pace,
Eyes gaze ahead in hollow stare, sunk deep in sallow face.

So blessed is he, who cannot see, a Father’s only Son,
Lost in remnants of his mind…only room for one.
So blessed is he, who cannot see, the sorrow he’s become,
Walking to his destination…the place he started from…

<sending positive thoughts your way>
So often in life we walk right by others and never even notice them. So often in life we walk in circles and never even notice.
I think this is a positive step for you. Maybe now you can get back to the beginning and catch all those positive thoughts you need.

So many of us (regular people !?!) walk right past the Samuels, never even seeing them except as an impediment to society. You have shown empathy and understanding for who is Samuel. Enjoyed this poem very much.
