let's get ready to rruuuummmmmble! :-)
the blank page awaits the touch
fearfully, i approach it
with ballpoint in hand.
trembling, i apply my pen
onto the surface,
afraid to mar the whiteness
because of the niggling voice
of failure mocking,
that old demon determined
to destroy my dreams
(he's done it so many times,
i have stopped counting):
you remember me, don't you?
i'm your worst nightmare.
you're nothing. you're a loser.
must i remind you?
& what is this you're doing?
writing? writing WHAT?
so you think you're an author?
i've got news for you.
& you're writing POETRY??
that's not good enough.
you'll never be a writer.
no one will read you.
besides, you aren't published.
authors have a book.
i get mad & DROWN failure
in a sea of words.
i am tired of your lies!
i'm not listening!
i am more than i appear.
i am somebody.
& you say i'm a loser?
i am a winner.
what do you think i'm doing?
i am a writer.
a writer is an author.
even with no book.
one day, i will have a book.
mark my words: I WILL.

|Karla this is a great poem. I relate to this subject fully. I spent six months every day hours and hours writing my last book not knowing the outcome and not knowing if it would publish. I hated it. But it was worth it in the end, not because I got published but because I went through with it. I can't even spell;)|

|Excellent write Karla! Would it shock you to know I turned down two book deals? Books aren't everything my dear! what you write from the heart is, and if you are a true poet you'd keep writing even if you were the only one to see it!|

|I've met that s.o.b. the "Editor" [aka the "Censor"]. He is a liar.
The important thing is the poetry---

|I have lots of books, Karla, unfortunately they are all someone else's, LOL! I just have fun writing, not worried about doing the book thing, at least right now...I want to get an autographed copy of yours when it comes out...you are getting closer to being a published author, each poem gets better and better...Peace thru Words, Ed & rufuz|

Karla, if really want to do this, you will, and you are a writer of poems. You are somebody. Whoever said you were a loser?
Writers are often treated badly and receive very little rewards. Sometimes the only thing that keeps one writing is the need to communicate.
Hang in there.

Have to hit the right moment.

|Yes you will karla....just keep writing
and saving these poems..you will surely
fill up a book quickly with great
poetry...and I wish it for you...
that little demon sits on my shoulder
from time to time to...but you have got to
believe in yourself...and I think you do...
