under the microscope of scrutiny
shackled to a bed with uncertainty
hid a sales man's truthful psyche
as all the doctors wonder, what is likely

and with a watchful eye of concern
each stranger waited for their turn
palpitating his mind with skill
yet still unable to decipher his will

trapped inside was a burrowed thought
doubt inflaming itself until overwrought
machismo cracking daily from shame
until denial looks for others to blame

in the end opportunity was robbed of its day
as insanity found a way to stay
hide in the darkness of a man's true feeling
escape the cuckoo’s nest without any healing
