An attempt at poetic humor....?

I got the rockin' chair blues
'Cause there ain't been any news
Since a month old letter yesterday.
Tomorrow's slow in comin'
And I believe I just might go crazy
If old Effie don't stop that infernal hummin'!
We sit out on the porch till the sun sinks low
The moon as our lantern while the stars all glow,
And we rock silently, in perfect unity, Pretty excitin' life, wouldn't you agree?
Got the rockin' chair blues
With no money for new shoes
And winter's comin' on
With each succeedin' dawn.
The cold is settin' in
And there ain't no way to win
With the rockin' chair blues.
Well, the rockin' chair blues
Finally made me blow my fuse
And so I chopped it into wood,
Which didn't do a bit of good,
Now there's just one rockin' chair
And crazy Effie's sittin' there...
And know what? She absolutely won't budge!
