A Secret In The Forest

Dawn finds me deep in the forest,
Traveling paths,
We once walked down together,
Holding hands in the spring rain,
Hiding from the others,
Among the trees we loved so much...

They coud never find us,
Could they?
They never knew our secret,
How much I loved this place,
How much,
I loved you...

I come here now,
Even though you aren't here,
Even though I know,
you traveled farther than I ever could...

The sun rises,
Bringing the light I hate so much,
And I start to turn away,
To run from this ugly day...

When suddenly the light shines through,
And I see you!
Standing there so strong-
Framed in the glory of this new day...

I wonder if it's really you,
Have I finally gone mad?
But you look so beautiful,
And I am not scared or even sad...

You smile at me,
And I can't help but think,
Now I see,
Your spirit will always be with me...

You are here where you belong,
Beautiful and so free,
Your spirit one with the trees,
We loved so much in our youth...

And now I know the truth,
We are forever one,
With all life...

This is what I discovered,
When I saw your spirit,
In the burning sun...
shining through the trees...

a wonderful moving write, but full of hope and comfort. The ending was simply perfect to me. This is how I would like to feel, if I lost my dearest one.

A most wonderful secret, indeed. I like the way you write with simple, truthful strokes as you would talk, were that person standing before you. It's touching, inviting the reader to step into it.
