...Likewise, hope this isn't too tasteless! What kind of mood am I in today?! (And, yes, I was going through a bit of a bad patch!!) KB |

Ever turn up at the wrong church
for a wedding, late,
to be ushered to remaining seats
amongst complete and utter
strangers?
Or how about your favourite aunt's
funeral, even later,
and the wrong crematorium?
Ever thumb through your diary
for your next available date
when the fit and spry old lady
standing hail and hearty
in front of you
says she'd like you to do
a reading at her own funeral
one day...?
Two ambulances
two fire engines -
one for car and one for house -
ALL for me
All within about six months
of each other...
Can we perhaps be forgiven
for thinking that
in this fast-moving
stressed-out life
we, in fact, manage -
not to get things so wrong -
but actually to get so much
completely
and uttterly
right?!

OH Kate this is so good.
Life is funny at times...
and somber. But it moves us.
Excellent poem. |
