A HOLIDAY

Work has been heavy
can't get away
from the dreams of the night
in the cold light of day.
Phones, people, voices
driving me mad
on top of the loss
of the love that we had,
but you couldn't give me
what I needed most
so I took a holiday
and went to the coast.
Head has been dizzy
crazy for you.
Heart has been bleeding
broken in two.
I had to find something
different to do,
I had to find anything
to exorcise your ghost,
so I took a holiday
and went to the coast
Tears I've been crying
holding back years,
so wasted, so lonely
and so full of fears.
I brought them with me
I didn't have a choice
I can still see you pleading,
still hear your voice
desperately saying
you needed me there
while I silently willed
myself not to care.
I closed my ears
to excuses you hurled
I took a holiday
and traveled the world

Why did Rosie on her death bed asked me to promise to always keep her silver mirror in the family. What silver mirror and why?..
