A Pine Barrens Town Lost…

Lost it was so very long ago,

Like most towns so small, don’t know,

Where they go, they are lost in time,

The people, the homes, all forgotten, such a crime…

Started out in the cranberry business in the 1860’s,

Born and bred on the business of berries,

Transported to Philadelphia by wagon to cross the ferries,

Making cranberry wine, sauce and other stuff, it varies…

Most towns in the Pines are now gone,

Remnants still standing, foundations & basements still can be seen,

Most overloaded now with modern mans junk, at one time a dream,

No Pineys do live in the Barrens anymore,

None that I know of, though don’t know the whole score…

Wish I knew of them many years ago, would have liked to have known more,

So many things have come and gone since man & his technology came and tore,

Tore down the past, the knowledge that was there, the history is now gone,

So much for future generations learning about the last of the Pine Barren’s towns…
