Frosted Glass

A repost for my great friend, Kenny: the constant source of my inspiration, faithful encourager and mentor, without whom I truly would not be writing. With especial thanks and gratitude as today I have learned that I have been accepted to undertake an MA course in Creative Writing, specialising in poetry. Much gratitude also to all my new friends here at AD who have been so appreciative of both my work and reviews...Kudos to you all!
With love, Kate xx

FROSTED GLASS

As a fruitful vine
emerging from a
pinch of silver sand
so has this
extraordinary friendship
been

Based on so little
and with no real recollection:
just a couple of days
spent together
in a crowded house,
and only half a conversation
shared between us

Yet like backlit mime artists
our shadowed movements
have continued as if either side
of a film projection screen;
Alice Through The Looking Glass
played out in poetry

And like Henry's clouds
are dragonish
as they fleeting scud
and race everchanging
through fathomless skies,
so your influence is upon me
whether I gaze up or look down -
your morphing shadows
dance across my earth

It's like the palms of our souls
have touched and press
together in high five
whilst remaining
yet divided -
but only as if by
a pane of Frosted glass

And I would not be here
if not for you

Sounds like two souls sharing a flame only for a moment; but receiving intense stimulation - never to be forgotten; changing you inside forever. Beautiful poem by a beautiful heart. Bill Murray
