Hung Out To Dry

How stupid I was to believe every word you said?

All the while you constructed lies within your head

I fell totally in love with you; felt safe next to you in bed

You said you loved me too; but your heart must be made of lead

You drew me in like a spider to an unsuspecting fly

Every thread of the web was a cold, calculated lie

I never questioned you; I never tried to pry

You broke my heart; now my love for you must die

I bared my soul; gave love to you, like never before

Now I’m licking my wounds; picking my soul off the floor

I’m fighting back now; ready to face life again

Determined that I will never, never feel such pain

No not I; I will not ever again be stung

Never again deaf to alarm bells that rung

And when daylight comes along

It will dawn on you; my anthem; my song:

I will never again be hung out to dry

I will never allow you my tears that I cry

You KNOW Andrea, one should never ever say "NEVER." But I know where you come from with this. Thank you for this offering. I send you love and peace. Regis

Andrea, today you opened up your heart and soul and we could see the crimson flow from it. But that is the way love goes for many of us,
and this is how you release it. Fine therapeutic poem. Bill Murray

You tell it so well Andrea!! You were the courageous one in the relationship.....it takes courage to open your heart and risk loving someone so please don't let a heartless person close your heart forever.

Yeah, yet somehow when you love again well you
seem to take the same risk all over again.
But I can relate. This is a powerful write
and sad, yet somehow I believe you're a tough
cookie. ;)

Yet another trip into what has been / is reality for so many of us lesser mortals! Thank you, Andrea, for making me appreciate my own vulnerablity. By the way, what do the Animal Anti-Cruelty league say about those poor pooches hung out to dry!? From rabbit to dogs - we are gettingback to our primal roots!

This sad and wonderfully written piece speaks volumes upon volumes. But to truly love again, trust must come once more, with someone, somewhere down the road. For any relationship that has no trust, is prime for additional heartache. This was beautifully written.
