ages ago
the wind buried
the windows with
pillows of snow
and the last stars
were hidden in
a pocket of clouds
then the thunder
of ice rose from
the lake and water
froze in the pipes
and I sat up late
looking back on
all my rages
all my regrets
as the chimney
emptied the stove
then off to bed
with misgivings
feeling helpless
feeling low
that was last night
