Beyond the Chocolate bunnies, colored eggs, jelly beans, marshmallow Peeps, leg o' lamb and mint jelly, let us not forget the real Easter Story.

Pain of Love

Blood dripped from His beaten and tortured flesh

Onto the ground where stood those who had taken him as their prisoner

Sparks of white light flashed behind his wounded eyes

Creating pathways for him to the touch of grace of His Father

Without bitterness and with great love, he blessed his adversaries

“Forgive them Father…”

Torn and beaten, thorny crown pressed deeply into his skull

He hanged solemnly on the cross.  Nails supporting his weakened body,

Pounded unmercifully through his hands and feet

Blistering sun and torturous heat, burned his skin

No water offered to quench his thirst or soothe his parched lips

To what avail was this inhumane treatment of this Holy Man

Those who loved him watched in quiet aguish

Never attempting to stop the madness

To try, would be to defy the will of God

It was meant to be, that this was the fate of The Son of God

It was written in the stars and echoed by the moon

A plight, beyond any which, a mere mortal could endure

He endured. He did this for us all, to show us the power of God’s love

Through His sacrifice, He has granted us eternal life

And has forgiven us our sins.  How can we not love Him

How can we walk and not carry Him with us

Could any of us love so much as to have done the things He did

For those whom were yet unknown to Him?

As the life drained from his weakened body and death overtook him

The clouds rolled in and cried, the earth shook,

Thunder and lightning sprang from an angry sky

All symbols of the power that rules all of mankind

His body was lowered from the cross and taken to the tomb

In sadness, all who had loved this man, wept.

But!...in the miracle of all miracles…HE AROSE!

Yes he did Sherry. Good faithful write. Mel Gipson's Passion, I didn't really like. I thought it was foolish overkill. I believe in making a point then moving on. The first time Christ was crucified was enough, there was no need for Mel to take everyone through his torture chamber again. Then again, it served its purpose. l&p G
