Unrequited
It lies dormant
Like a thought that won’t come
Like a dream not quite remembered
It slumbers
Underneath the everyday feelings
Underneath the often expressed emotions
It sleeps
Not deeply but gently, so close to the surface
But so far, unawakened
Unrequited
Love never finds life
Never sees daylight, it stays hidden
Under the surface
Till gently, it dies
unrequited

This is exceptional, Sue. Tender and yet so powerful.
