We Grew Up

I am so very blessed
to know a man such as you.
There are so many little things
I remember - I wonder, do you still do.
Like...are you still cute?
Do you wear a suit, or are you
a blue jean man?
You're a cowboy, I know that -
do you wear the boots
and own the hat? Imagine that...
Silly me, I can see the man's
no longer "the boy."
The difference is,
I understand
that now,
didn't then;
I couldn't tell the boys from men,
when I was younger.
Now, I'm stronger, clearer sighted -
takes much more to see me blighted.
You're still my friend, a heaven send
in the summer of my life.
I dare to dream -
can fairytales really come true ?
Then my telephone rings,
my heart starts to sing, and
my wings stretch out, braced to fly.
I've never known, how you find me by phone...
don't want to - such a pleasant surprise!
