He never stands too close, a man of mystery.
You almost catch a glimpse of him
He's there, he's gone, now closer
(How'd he do that?!)

Too far to know for sure that was a wink!
Just close enough to see the smirk
The eye contact is disarming.
Look away!

The swagger, the slow, deliberate stroll
It IS you he is approaching
NOW you can smirk back
(He's kinda cute!)

Blushing is in order (and he does!)
Charming .. that little show of pink.
His shirt's half out
Good! it shows he's relaxed.

Smiling ever bigger now, nearly here
Oh, god! is that broccoli in his teeth? his fingernails are dirty, must be hardworking.
Oh god, is that his zipper...down?

He's saying "hi"...
Oh, god.. he's a soprano!
He's bending forward, BOWING??
To ME??

My friends have watched it all
Their distance is infuriating!

I know this boy, he takes my bus
He always sits alone
The other kids make fun of him

He's sucking the broccoli from his teeth
Smiling to beat the band, broccoli-free
Asking me to dance with him
Cheeks blazing away
Zipper up
Kids staring

Um.. OK.

That's the only type that ever asked me to dance. So if I wanted to dance. . .Usually I just stayed home. I just think my beauty and brains were too overwhelming for the "popular" guys.

Loved the read. Though it brought back not so fond memories--ha!
