You've Got a Son

I have got a son, and what a son, more than I thought I ever would have had...!

You’ve Got a Son…

So said the doctor to me that day,

Well not exactly just that way,

He told me the adoption went through,

All I had to do, for a short time, was to sit and stay…

I heard them talk to my son as they brought him out,

You have a daddy; yes he is here right now, with your mommy too,

They have a nice house, a yard to play in,

Of course you will be the only one, just you…

Oh my goodness, he is just a year and walking already,

Kisses his new mom, gives me the cold shoulder,

They say he had a bad start; his first dad was mean in part,

Possibly beating him, putting men off his friendship list,

He will get better as he does get a bit older…

I could not have expected anymore,

50 pounds he weighed in at that day,

40 pounds of hair, 10 pounds of Rufuz,

Yes all this is about a dog, but more than a dog, a son,

Or as close to one that I would ever have, what more can I say…?

Pets are like your children; I have considered my cats my babies; and I ADORED them! I always used to tell people that I had a kid, and that my kid was very furry, purred, and ate cat food! They really gave me some strange looks! LOL But now I can't have any more "kids" where I am at, so whatever cats I DO see I automatically adopt, even though someone else raises them! There's also a few dogs I have adopted! LOL So I have doggie AND kitty kids! LOL (I have adopted Rufuz too, but you don't know that! LOL)

aDORable write!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn the Texas Tornado. :D

Oh you fooled me 100%...this is so so very sweet Ed.
It touched my heart....and I realize that pets are so
much like humans ...and are so loved by their "dads"
I can feel how much you love him here...great poem...
may he and you have a long life together....floria

You can call it humor if you wish, Eddy, me sweet.. BUT.. I call it weepingly wondrous! In this gigantic world, I believe you and Rufuz were meant to find each other.. don't mind that lump in my throat.. you just went and touched me deeply with this. Your love for "your son" says so much about you. I love this one. katy xox.
