London Cries

As the light fades to a deep red haze

The city feels like a deserted maze

Up above the pigeons coo in lust

Entreating love as a hungry trust

The sounds of the night reverberate on

Echoing

As daylight arises with the sun

And through the jagged city spires

Comes again; the sounds of screeching tyres

The pigeons wake to the bustle

Of the city workers in the morning rustle

Leaving their roost and their holes

The pigeons sound their inner souls

London cries out its only sounds

Of urban life to the world around

And Old Father Thames allows the tides to roll

To the sounds of Big Bens’ chimes that toll

London, my London has chaste and mystery

London, my London personifies haste and history

YES, great write, no city like London, just so much up there, though I tend to be called to Carnaby street:))

Living 25 miles from it guess I would say this, but it is the richest in history.....

You've described your London extremely well, Andrea. Felt I was standing there looking at it through your eyes.

Enjoyed this poem very much.
