Thundershowers last night inspired this one. :-)

the storm is hungry, it must eat to live,
it gorges on heat and humidity.
the storm shovels it in with fork'ed hands,
ever increasing in turgidity.

the storm inhales and chokes on chunks of ice,
and its visage turns a ghastly blue-black.
the storm sees lightning dance before its eyes,
it vomits in resounding thundercracks.

the storm works up a sweat and it rains down,
its appetite, one law it won't rescind.
the storm's stomach growls, it's hungry again,
it sucks up clods of earth in a whirlwind.

the storm finally slakes its hunger binge,
its appetite, for now, under control.
the storm lies down, ready to take a nap,
a diet is not on its protocol.

Fantastic, Karla! It's probably not meant as a children's write, but I'm sure the sophisticated little darlings of our age would just about gobble this one up as much as us adults! And good on you, too, for showing that storm who's boss! Your triumphant pen, that's who! Really strong, visual writing this.... thank you. Kate xx

Wow. An extremely powerful write, Karla. Really like this one.
Never quite thought of a storm in those terms; but now I will. Well done!

This is really great, hon, I love storms & you hate them, but I can understand your hate through your writes about them, this is so vivid, I can feel the storm. To compare it to something as minor as overeating is pure genius...you get better with each passing write...Peace thru the Write, Ed & Rufuz

This is a fine example of your developing voice as a poet. I know how much you " love on " thunderstorms which makes this work all that more amazing. Nicely done, keep it up!
