~ Isabella’s Gift ~

Sweet Isabella sing for me, my sails set with the dawn.
Serenade my heart tonight, caress me with your song.
Soothing songs to comfort, with simple words in rhyme,
Sung in warm melodious tones, of the very mellowest kind.

Fill my ears with sounds of you, my heart to overflowing,
So I may carry part of you with me, to where I’m going.
Amidst the ocean’s opus, I’ll hear your symphony,
Echoing to foreign shores, across the listless seas.

I am spellbound by your beauty, your unassuming charm,
Swaying with your mandolin, second nature in your arms.
Serenade my heart once more, in notes of soft reprise,
Allow me to gaze long and hard, into your lovely eyes.

Sing sweet Bella Mia, until a new day bids me go.
I’ll not forget this perfect night…as you have made it so.
A precious gift you’ve given, to a voyager of the sea,
Fear not in haste, my songbird, your memory sails with me.

The rhyme in this is gorgeous, reminds me of Christina Rosetti, who is one of my favorite poets ever. I was wondering if you ever tried spacing it with the parts after the comma as the next line rather than all in one- just curious! Also, shouldn't it be "Sing again, Bella Mia," without the extra "my' since "Mia" is "My" in Italian? I hope you don't mind my comments because I think this is the best poem I have read on here in ages, so that is why I wanted to mention those things, as this is comparable to classic poetry of the best writers in my humble, meaningless opinion :)

Bonnie, whether you meant Isabella to be a child or not I'm not sure, but I plainly saw a sweet young child standing and squishing her toes through the sand on a warm late afternoon singing in the wind. Her innocence calming nature.
Beautiful work Bonnie. Lisa

"Isabella's Gift" sings the Paean to enchant and to wonder. This is flowing into the magical sea, making waves of delights.
