A journey filled with laments
Both heard and unuttered.
A road with a defined end,
All too clearly in view.

A trail upon which we struggle along,
In an incessant quest for happiness
Found in a few precious moments
Between episodes,
Weighted by a preponderance of uncertainty
And mediocrity,
Which weigh us down
While we yearn
For love.

Even if just a modicum,
Found in the exhale of a single breath upon the nape,
Or
The light caress of a finger,
Slowly drawn across our brow.

As long as it is for us to possess.

As long as it is an
Acknowledgement that we are needed,
If only as a mentor,
Or a muse.

Even a friend.

To be held.
If only in a thought
Of a person who cares.

About us.

To be wanted.
If only within the heart
Of someone we cherish,

Though unobtained.

Minutes of life.

Tokens and fragments of promises.
Broken by endless advertisements for existences
Not of our making
Or choice.

We are pushed along a road not of our will
By a world which has found no satisfaction.
To achieve a goal in which we loath,
The only reward we are given.

What have we done with our years?
When it is only in looking back
That we discover what we truly ached for
Were moments of time.

When we were at peace.

When we were safe.

When we were loved.

I really enjoyed this. Especially the way you ended it. Great job.

This was beautiful and deeply moving, I loved those last lines,
What have we done with our years?
When it is only in looking back
That we discover what we truly ached for
Were moments of time.

When we were at peace.

When we were safe.

When we were loved.

Prayer Poems for Mother (A Great Gift for Mother) by John Domino

What can you give mother that will last forever? A prayer poem book that says, "I love you!" This is the ultimate gift for mother or grandmother. It's much better than any card you..
